HOUSTON ARTIST USES LESSONS LEARNED IN PANDEMIC FOR NEW EXHIBIT, FUEGO
'FUEGO ' A Series by Artist LAMONTE' FRENCH
Houston, TX - Artist LaMonte French like everyone else found himself having to pivot during the coronavirus pandemic. French admits his creativity was stifled at first but with a shift in attitude, his creative juices caught fire, and the creation of his series, FUEGO, fire in Spanish, was born. "I found a new studio space and a new fire was in the pit of my stomach full of a whole different approach. That burning was a literal feeling, and these works are creations from that fire of creativity that I gained by starting over, hence the title, "FUEGO".
On June 11th, the native Houstonian in partnership with Moriah Standberry, Director of Alise Art Group, unveils his exhibit, Fuego, at Sanman Studios, 1109 Providence St., Suite 3, Houston, Texas 77002. A private showing follows on June 12th from 11-3 PM.
French calls the works emotional. "I wanted to have a show that was a celebration of making beautiful work out of a dark space. This collection was emotional for me. It gives reference to addiction, depression, religion, and political undertones. All while glazing your palette for aesthetics and culture. Art is what got me through the pandemic, it still is because the pandemic still is. Being creative is what has gotten me through life, it still is because LIFE ..still is! FUEGO is my way of telling the art world, I'm still "cooking" and I am always grateful to my collectors and consumers who continue to support my work."

ABOUT THE ARTIST
"I'm just a creole kid from Houston," says LaMontè French a self-taught abstract-expressionist artist, born and raised in Houston, Texas. His name is a true testament to his passion to mix history of the past(him being of Creole & German descent) and concrete present. "LaMontè" being his birth given middle name and "French" standing as the torch to pay homage to his Creole grandmother. "I feel as individuals in this world, we must utilize every entity given to us, that is our right as human beings".
French moved from Houston at age 9 to Ann Arbor. MI, a place he calls a melting pot of diversity. "Throughout my life, the many travels and experiences I have been allotted, Art and the actual euphoria and process of creating, has always been a sanctuary for my true self".
French would eventually come back to Houston as a teen and go on to New Mexico State University on an athletic scholarship. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology in 2004.
His works have been shown in numerous galleries and purchased by some of the world's top collectors. This is his first show at Sanman Studios.
